tarot meditation

    the hanged man

how does the body mediate for us?
how can knowledge submit to intuition?

the hanged man illustrates a  visceral pathway to obtaining or practicing embodiment. located between Justice and Death, this card suggests the necessity to willfully submit to our greater good, highest path, and rebirth. hanging between the underworld and heaven, we must ask ourselves how knowledge can submit to the body in order to bring ourselves in alignment with the divine. wisdom and enlightenment follow sacrifice, listening, and willful action.

can i peacefully lie in the non-movement?
can i hang still enough for my old perspective to die?

perhaps the strength of this lesson is not the transformation itself, but the will to choose and accept our approaching Death. can we truly let go of everything and sit with what is left? if we hurry to break the bind and let ourselves off, we cannot evolve in the way the universe is asking of us. we miss out on enlightenment, and without this wisdom we cannot move forward.

physical adjustments may be necessary to create a clear channel for energy to flow freely. this is a good time to ask ourselves where we are blocked and restricted, and spend time listening to how our bodies answer. perhaps once we have resigned to hanging as long as our body asks of us, the wisdom of how to move forward will have found enough space within us to take root.
